Armor Join Tornado Relief Efforts

SPRINGFIELD, MA- The Springfield Armor announced today that they will be holding an online auction of autographed team memorabilia, with all of the proceeds to be donated directly to the Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, to assist relief efforts for the tornadoes that struck Springfield and other parts of Western Massachusetts on June 1st.
"We want to make sure that we support Springfield and the surrounding communities in this time of need," Armor General Manager, Alex Schwerin, said. "The cleanup and rebuilding process will be a lengthy one, but we're 100% committed to supporting the ongoing relief efforts here in any way we can."
The Armor will be conducting the auction at http://bit.ly/ArmorAuction, hosted by online charitable auction site 32auctions. All major credit cards will be accepted through the secure PayPal system. The auction, which will begin Fri. June 3rd, at 3:30 p.m., will run through 5:00 p.m. on Fri. June 17th.
Among the items to be auctioned off will be game-worn Armor basketball shorts, a pair of game-worn shoes autographed by Scottie Reynolds, as well as game programs and other assorted memorabilia autographed by Armor players. The signature item available will be a game-worn home jersey autographed by the entire 2010-11 Armor team.
The New Jersey Nets, the Armor's exclusive NBA affiliate, have also contributed a Brook Lopez autographed basketball shoe to the auction. The NBA has contributed a basketball signed by NBA legend, Dikembe Mutombo.
There is an option to donate cash that will be a part of the Armor's total contribution to the Red Cross as well.
The Armor will also be donating a percentage of season ticket proceeds to further benefit disaster relief efforts. Any season ticket purchased between now and June 17th will result in 25% of the season ticket's value being donated to the Red Cross. Additionally, the Armor have extended their 'No Money Down' season ticket payment option, in which all season ticket payments can be deferred until July, from June 10th to June 17th.
