Arizona United Soccer Club Signs Five More Players

PHOENIX - Today, Arizona United Soccer Club announced the signings of five more players: midfielder Daniel Antunez, forwards Gibson Bardsley and Chris Cortez, midfielder Miguel Timm, and defender Uchenna Uzo. All five had spent much of preseason with the club.

Antunez, one of the first four players to ever sign with Arizona United, returns to the Valley for his third season. In his previous two seasons, Antunez made 30 appearances and scored one goal for Arizona United.

Bardsley has played in the USL since his debut in 2011. He has 71 career appearances and has scored 19 goals in that time. He spent 2015 split between two clubs: USL's Tulsa Roughnecks FC (four goals in 18 appearances) and Maltese side Pembroke Athleta (one goal in nine appearances).

Cortez is a USL veteran who played his last three professional seasons with OC Blues FC. In those three seasons, Cortez appeared in 67 matches and scored 20 goals while adding five assists.

Timm most recently played with South African side Mpumalanga Black Aces Football Club, where he made a total of 34 appearances (and three goals). Prior to that, he appeared in 22 matches (one goal) with another South African side, Bidvest Wits Football Club. Timm also made appearances for the U17, U20, and U23 South African National teams.

Uzo had an accomplished college career at Coastal Carolina. He was an All-Big South selection all three seasons he played at the school (he was a first team selection in his senior season). He was also named the 2014 Big South Tournament MVP in his senior season.

Arizona United now has 17 players signed heading into the first week of the 2016 season. Arizona United's USL home opener will be on Saturday, April 30, against Portland Timbers 2. The 2016 season kicks off next Saturday, March 26, at Los Angeles Galaxy II.
