WENATCHEE - Former college baseball players, Kyle Hunt and Colton Loomis will join the Wenatchee AppleSox as assistant coaches in 2016, Head Coach AJ Proszek announced, Thursday.

Hunt, a native of Mission Viejo, Calif., joins the AppleSox after completing his first season as an undergraduate assistant coach for the University of Nevada, Reno. He lettered at Nevada from 2012-15 and played in 210 career games over that span.

He capped his career by starting in 52 games as a senior in 2015, leading the program to 41 wins and its first Mountain West Championship. Hunt was a shortstop for the Wolf Pack and posted a .244 batting average with 161 hits, 109 runs, 86 RBI, and 24 stolen bases in his collegiate career.

Loomis, a native of Cashmere and Vancouver, Wash., is beginning his coaching career with the AppleSox after having just wrapped up his time on the diamond as a collegiate baseball player at Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho. He threw a no-hitter this spring, which was just the fifth in the 70-year history of NNU Baseball. Like Hunt, Loomis also led his program to its first conference championship.

He played for the AppleSox in 2014 and 2015, with a 3.02 career ERA for the AppleSox. He threw 71 1/3 innings in his WCL playing career, and struck out 45 batters. He only allowed 1 earned run in his final 7 WCL outings; a span of 18 2/3 innings.

As a senior at Cashmere High School in 2012, he was named the 1A/B State Player of the Year by the Washington Baseball Coaches Association and helped lead the Bulldogs to a state championship.

The 2016 season will begin at home on June 3 with a three-game series against the Yakima Valley Pippins. The team's 17th season will include 33 home games at Paul Thomas Sr. Field.

Single game tickets start at just $7 for adults and $6 for kids. Season tickets are available now and can be purchased by contacting the AppleSox office at (509) 665-6900.
