Applebee's of Pikeville to host EK Miners Draft Party

PIKEVILLE, KY. - It's deja vu for the East Kentucky Miners' CBA Draft party. For a second straight year, Applebee's of Pikeville with host the East Kentucky Miners' CBA Draft party. The Miners organization will make its draft selections among family, friends and fans in attendance at the Pikeville restaurant. Keeping with the tradition established last year, East Kentucky professional basketball fans will have an opportunity to interact with the Miners organization as the draft selections are made.
This year's draft party is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m. inside Applebee's of Pikeville. The East Kentucky Miners selected six players in the 2007 CBA Draft. This year's version of the CBA Draft is slated to begin at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
"We are very pleased to have Applebee's serve as a host for the draft party for a second straight year," said Miners Coach Kevin Keathley. "Last year, we had a standing room crowd. We invite everyone out to the draft party, which will feature players, myself, members of the Miners front office and the Diamond Girls dance team."
The CBA Draft will consist of six rounds and is open to all players who have exhausted their college eligibility and were eligible for the NBA Draft this past June. CBA Deputy Commissioner Dennis Truax will serve as the moderator for the CBA Draft with CBA Director of Scouting Mark Argenziano and Director of Player Personnel Jeff Argenziano providing commentary.
East Kentucky ended the regular-season portion of the 2007-08 season 26-22. The Miners franchise reached the CBA Playoffs in its debut season.
