Dennis Truax named CBA Commissioner

September 10, 2008 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release

Albany, NY (September 10, 2008) - The Continental Basketball Association today announced that current Deputy Commissioner Dennis Truax has been promoted to the role of Commissioner for the 2008-09 season. Truax had previously served as the CBA Director of Operations for two seasons and was most recently promoted to the position of Deputy Commissioner. Truax becomes the 20th Commissioner in CBA history.

Prior to his time in the CBA League Office, Truax briefly served as Director of Media Relations and assistant coach of the Rockford Lightning in 2005. During the 2004-05 CBA season, Truax was the Director of Media Relations and Assistant Director of Basketball Operations for the Gary Steelheads. From 1999-2004, Truax worked for the United States Basketball League in many capacities including consultant, intern, and Director of Media Relations.

"This is a great honor to be named Commissioner of the CBA," said Truax. "To be included with such men like Jim Drucker, Jay Ramsdell and Gary Hunter is a privilege and an honor. They along with all of the past Commissioners have done an outstanding job and I hope to be able to follow their example and continue the tradition that they have left for me. I also want to wish Jim Coyne the greatest of success as he returns to his first love, the Albany Patroons. I know that if I have any problems he will be there to help in any way with his guidance. I look forward to working with all of our teams to make the 2008-09 a success on and off the court."

"Dennis is an integral part of the CBA," said CBA Executive Committee Chairman Ben Fernandez. "He is knowledgeable and hard working and that is a combination that a Commissioner must have. He has worked his way up the corporate ladder and has been loyal through all the changes that the CBA has undergone. His continued daily skills with the operations of the league, his work ethic and desire to do the best job possible are invaluable to the CBA and we are glad to have him as our next Commissioner."

"While I am sad to be leaving the CBA Office I know I leave the job in very capable hands," said Former CBA Acting Commissioner Jim Coyne. "Dennis knows this league inside and out. He will do whatever needs to be done and I know that the CBA is lucky to have him as our next Commissioner."
