Springfield Jr. Blues News Release

Jr. Blues defenseman Anthony Scarsella has committed to play college hockey at Michigan State University.

Scarsella is currently in his second season with the Jr. Blues. He has 21 points on the season, including 5 goals, and is currently the team's plus/minus leader at +13. Scarsella was a member of the Midwest Division's team at the NAHL Top Prospects tournament this year. "I'm thankful for all of my teammates, coaches, and family that have sacrificed to help me achieve this opportunity" says Scarsella. "I couldn't have done it by myself."

Playing at Michigan State will be a homecoming in a way for Scarsella, as East Lansing is only an hour drive from his home town of White Lake, MI. "It's a dream come true and an honor" said Scarsella when asked what it will be like to play so close to home. "I feel like a hometown hero of sorts, so it's extra motivation to work hard to make sure I'm earning playing time and doing well."

Michigan State is a member of the Big Ten Conference and a NCAA Div-1 program.

Scarsella is the tenth Jr. Blues player to make a college commitment this year joining: Kyle Meeh - Saint Mary's University; Erich Fear - Denver; Sam Craggs - Bowling Green; Trevor Stone - Air Force; Tommy Nappier - Ohio State; Ted Rotenberger - University of Alabama Huntsville; Brady Tomlak - Air Force; Michael Houle - Bowling Green; and Hunter Schneider - University of Wisconsin River Falls.
