Anthony Blumer Returns to Mallards

Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards Head Coach and General Manager Brian Curran announced today that winger Anthony Blumer has rejoined the team after beginning the season in Europe. Blumer played in two Mallards games last spring after being drafted in the second round (22nd overall) of the 2005 North American Amateur Draft.

In his Mallards debut last spring, Blumer displayed speed and tenacity while recording eight shots on goal in two games. He played 31 games last year as a Senior at St. Thomas University. The Eagan, Minnesota native scored 13 goals with 23 assists for 36 points during his final collegiate campaign. During his 113-game college career, Blumer recorded 45 goals and 68 assists for 113 points.

The Mallards open the 2005-06 season on Friday, October 21st in Flint vs. the Generals. The 11th home opener in franchise history is slated for Saturday, October 22nd vs. the Motor City Mechanics. Opening Night is presented by Valley Bank. Festivities include a $1,000,000 Giveaway of valuable offers from Mallards Marketing Partners. Two fans will shoot for $100,000 courtesy of Valley Bank. A pre-game pyrotechnics show will welcome the 2005-06 Mallards to the ice. Illinois Quad City Chamber members receive special priced tickets for opening night.
