IceHogs broadcasting network expands with ESPN radio

Rockford, Ill.-The Rockford IceHogs, proud members of the United Hockey League, and ESPN Radio1380 "The Jock" have agreed to broadcast 20 of the IceHogs regular season games for the upcoming 2005-06 season and host a weekly half-hour coaches show. IceHogs General Manager Ryan Washatka and ESPN Radio 1380 "The Jock" Station Manager Keith Williams made the announcement on Wednesday.

"Adding ESPN 1380 to our broadcast network will be a great addition for IceHogs hockey and our fans," said Washatka. "As our fan base continues to grow, ESPN 1380 will allow us to expand our coverage throughout the Rock River Valley."

Of the 20 IceHogs regular season broadcasts on 1380, 10 will be on the road and 10 at the MetroCentre. ESPN Radio 1380 is owned and operated by Good Karma Broadcasting, LLC which owns and operates eight radio stations and the FLATO.com web site in Wisconsin, Illinois and Florida. The signal for ESPN 1380 is transmitted out of Rockton, Illinois, allowing IceHogs fans in the state-line area to listen in to future games.

The IceHogs will also have a weekly coaches show called the "In The Pig Pen" with Head Coach Steve Martinson. The show will take place each Friday from 4:00p.m.-4:30p.m. Fans will have an opportunity to go behind the scenes and get a preview of the weekend's big games and Hogs happenings.

"As Rockford's only full time sports station, ESPN Radio 1380 is proud to be a part of such a great tradition in Rockford," said Williams. "We're looking forward to hearing Mike Peck's call on ESPN Radio 1380 and getting the inside scoop each week with Coach Martinson".

ESPN Radio 1380 "The Jock" joins the IceHogs Broadcasting Network which features 1330 AM, WNTA in Rockford, the B2 Network which broadcasts all 76 games on the IceHogs web site (www.icehogs.com), including a live video feed for only $6, and Cable Insight Channel 57 which also broadcasts all of the Hogs games live.
