Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH (Jan. 22, 2015) - The Pittsburgh Riverhounds are pleased to announce that central defender Anthony Arena has agreed terms for the 2015 USL PRO season.
Arena appeared in 16 league games for the Riverhounds last year while on loan from Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo franchise. His displays earned him Pittsburgh's Defensive Player of the Year award.
"Anthony is a key signing for us," said Riverhounds head coach Mark Steffens. "He brings great leadership on and off the field and his professionalism will impact our younger players in a positive way.
"He will stabilize our back four and be the backbone to our defensive unit."
Arena, 24, spent two seasons with the Dynamo after being selected in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft. The Kenmore, Washington native made his MLS debut in June 2013. He has represented the United States at the Under-18 and U-20 levels.
