Arizona United Soccer Club Re-Signs Midfielder Joey Dillon

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Jan. 22, 2015) - Arizona United Soccer Club is adding another piece to the 2015 team by re-signing midfielder Joey Dillon.

Dillon becomes the ninth player under contract with Arizona United SC for the 2015 season.

"We are delighted to have Joey back with us for another year. He embodies what our organization is all about," said Arizona United SC Head Coach Michael Dellorusso. "He logged a lot of minutes for us in year one, and will be a vital player moving forward."

A standout at the Georgetown University, Dillon signed with Arizona United SC ahead of the 2014 season and enjoyed a productive rookie season amassing over 1,900 minutes in 25 USL PRO appearances. Dillon featured primarily as a midfielder, but showed his versatility when he pressed into defensive duties as a right back and center back. Dillon was a three-time USL PRO Team of the Week honorable mention.

In U.S. Open Cup play, Dillon was named to the starting lineup in Arizona United SC's victories over the Portland Timbers U-23s in the second round and the OKC Energy FC in the third round.

"I'm extremely excited to be coming back to Arizona United SC," Dillon said. "It's an honor to have the opportunity to help the club continue to grow, especially with the great front office, coaching staff and fan base that has been built over the past year. I'm looking forward to getting back to work with the team during preseason."

Hailing from Rochester Hills, Mich., Dillon was a four-year starter at Georgetown University from 2010-13. He appeared in 86 matches, scored one goal and notched four assists. Following the conclusion of his senior season, Dillon was named Big East Midfielder of the Year. During his collegiate years, Dillon saw time with USL Premier Development League's Michigan Bucks (2011, 2012-13) and National Premier Soccer League's Detroit City FC. Dillon was selected by Major League Soccer's Real Salt Lake in the 2014 SuperDraft, but was released before he made his debut.
