Another Slugfest and Another Loss For Hagerstown
July 15, 2004 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Hagerstown Suns News Release
The rough losses continue to accumulate for the Hagerstown Suns as they dropped their fifth consecutive game Thursday night at Municipal Stadium. Hagerstown tallied ten runs on ten hits but it was just not enough as the Legends took the second game of the three- game set. Hagerstown pitching continued to struggle, allowing the Legends to reach double-digits in hits and runs for the second straight evening.
Lexington put up seven runs in the top of the fifth to take a commanding 10-4 lead. The Suns then displayed their resiliency, answering with five runs in the sixth inning, topped off by a two run triple from Brian Munhall to make it a 10-9 game. Lexington scored the insurance run off Joe Bateman in the eighth, as the Legends proved to be too much for the Suns.
Legend CF Ervin Alcantara has mistaken Suns pitching for BP, as he has now smacked ten RBI and two homers in the past two games. Hagerstown got a couple of extra base hits from Pat Dobson, and Derek Barrow added two hits of his own in the Suns defeat. Tim Hutting got the Suns on the board in the second with a three run-shot, his second of the year.
Hagerstown tries to avoid the sweep tomorrow with Mike Musgrave going against Derick Grigsby.
