Corpus Christi Sharks News Release

Corpus Christi Sharks Vice President and General Manager Larry Linde announced today that former Shark Estus Hood has been signed by the New Orleans VooDoo of the AFL. Details of the contract were not disclosed. Hood becomes the second member from the Sharks inaugural 2007 squad to be signed by an AFL team. Kicker Chris Onorato, who was signed by the New York Dragons back in December, was the first player in franchise history to make the jump.

Last season for the Sharks, Hood anchored a defensive line that developed into one of the stingiest in the af2 over the second half of the season. Hood recorded 31 total tackles and led the team with 12 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks and two safeties. Additionally, Hood batted down three passes at the line and forced 4 fumbles.

"Estus is a tremendous athlete with the drive and determination to succeed not only in the AFL, but beyond", said Sharks Head Coach Mike. "This is what sets the af2 and the Sharks apart from other indoor football leagues and teams. Our mission is to develop players and have them move up to higher levels of football". "Both Estus and Chris are proof of that", Trigg added.

While Sharks fans will miss Hood playing at the American Bank Center in 2008, they still will have a chance to watch him play on Monday May 26th, when the VooDoo host the Georgia Force on ESPN2's Coverage of the AFL.

"Seeing our guys develop, move on, and appear on national television is part of what the af2 is all about", said Linde. "Guys like Chris and Estus are just the first of what we think will be many success stories to come from the Sharks organization".

The Sharks will spend the first two weeks of the regular season on the road before returning to Radiology Associates Field at the American Bank Center for the home opener against division rival Rio Grande on April 12th. Season tickets for the Sharks 2008 season are now on sale and start as low as $75. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Sharks office at (361)882-9292.
