Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage Hockey Club has acquired the rights of forward Dorian Anneck in a trade with the Memphis Riverkings for future considerations; it was announced today. He enters his 10th professional season and his fourth season in the Central Hockey League.
Anneck earned 44 points on 16 goals and 28 assists in 46 games with the Riverkings last season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native returned to the CHL from a two-year stint in Germany with the Lausiter Foxes (Bundesliga) and the Essen Mosquitoes.
"Anneck is a good goal scorer and he has had a solid career in the CHL so far," said Tracy Egeland, head coach. "The next step is to get him signed for this season."
Anneck was a 3rd round pick (#56 overall) of the Winnipeg Jets in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He began his pro career playing three seasons with the Monroe Moccasins of the WPHL. He was a WPHL All Star in 1999 and 2000 and was voted WPHL All Star MVP in the 2000 game. Anneck led the Moccasins in scoring with 38 goals and 51 assists in 1999-2000 and he helped lead the Moccasins to the WPHL playoffs in 1989-99 and 1999-00. Anneck co-led the WPHL in game-winning goals with 10 in 1998-99.
Anneck signed with Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL to start the 2000-01 season. He had 11 goals and 10 assists in the first 10 games with the Chiefs. Anneck was then traded to Augusta Lynx (ECHL) for future considerations after 47 games with Johnstown.
He signed with the CHL's Amarillo Rattlers in 2001 and led the Rattlers in scoring with 44 goals, 35 assists and 79 points. His efforts earned him ice time in the 2002 CHL All Star game in Corpus Christi. He had a goal and two assists in that game. In 2002-03, he was the second leading scorer for the Amarillo Gorillas and helped the Amarillo franchise to a best ever 39 wins and first ever playoff appearance.
The Rage is slated to begin its inaugural season this October on the road. The Rage will begin play at home this November at the new, state-of-the-art Broomfield Event Center. The Rocky Mountain Rage is one of two expansion teams in the Central Hockey League's 17-team field. The Rage will join the Colorado Eagles, Oklahoma City Blazers and Wichita Thunder in the Northwest Division.
