Utah Warriors News Release

HERRIMAN, UTAH - Utah Warriors' Prop Angus MacLellan has been called up to join the USA Eagles for World Cup Qualifying matches, USA Rugby announced Thursday.

MacLellan (6'1", 280) just completed his fifth year as a member of the Utah Warriors, appearing in 15 of Utah's 16 matches in 2022 and became the first player in Major League Rugby History to appear in 50 Regular Season matches. A Michigan native, MacLellan made his USA Rugby debut in 2016 against Italy at Avaya Stadium (San Jose, CA), becoming Eagle No. 493.

MacLellan becomes the third Utah Warrior to join USA Rugby for World Cup Qualifying Matches in 2022, joining Paul Mullen and Paul Lasike. Mullen will make his second consecutive start at Prop for the Eagles this Saturday when they take on Chile, while MacLellan will come off the bench - wearing No. 18. Lasike will not return this Summer for the Eagles after suffering a broken hand vs. the French Barbarians on July 1.

"We are proud to see the USA set piece anchored by Utah Warriors players," said Warriors' General Manager Brandon Sparks. "Paul Mullen was steadfast in his performance and continuously worked to improve his craft in 2022. It is also great to see Angus be called back up to the Eagles after having a great MLR season and being the first player to reach 50 appearances."
