Angel City FC News Release
LOS ANGELES - Angel City Football Club (ACFC) today confirmed that the team has agreed to transfer defender Allyson Swaby to AC Milan for an agreed-upon fee.
"Allyson will always be a part of our club's history and we look forward to seeing her next chapter with AC Milan," said Angel City FC General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano. "We are happy we were able to get this deal in place after her tremendous performance on the world stage of football with Team Jamaica, appearing in her second World Cup. We truly wish her nothing but the best."
Swaby, who has spent the past six months on loan with Paris Saint-Germain, joined Angel City for the club's inaugural season from AS Roma, where she appeared in 55 matches. She scored two goals and helped the team bring home their first major trophy at the Coppa Italia final.
She was also called up to the Jamaican Women's National Team in 2018, where she has made 29 match appearances. Swaby made her second FIFA Women's World Cup appearance at the ongoing 2023 tournament, where she scored the team's only group-stage goal to secure Jamaica's first-ever trip to the knockout rounds.
Originally from West Hartford, Connecticut, Swaby spent her collegiate career with the Boston College Eagles, where she earned 2014 All-ACC Freshman Team honors and served as team captain her senior season. After graduating from Boston College, Swaby started her professional career by signing with Knattspyrnufélag Fjarðabyggðar, an Icelandic third-division club, appearing in 12 matches while scoring 5 goals in all competitions.
Off the field, Swaby is an active member of Common Goal, a pledge-based organization that works to unite the global football community in tackling social challenges, and is committed to using her platform to promote equality through soccer.
