Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - Everett Silvertips forward Andrew Petruk has donated a section of seats to the Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County, treating volunteers and those in need of the center's services to a night at Angel of the Winds Arena this Saturday.
Petruk, 18, is a frequent volunteer at the Surrey Women's Centre in his hometown in British Columbia. He has spent several years assisting in clothing drives for survivors and their families, as well as repairs and painting around the facility, drawing inspiration from his mother, Christine.
"My mom has always been an advocate for women in abusive situations growing up," Petruk commented. "Over the years, I've had the opportunity and pleasure to work with the volunteers and women of the [Surrey Women's] Centre. It's been very impactful for me to speak with the women who work at the Centre and volunteer regularly there and hear how devastating the situations can be for women and children experiencing domestic violence."

With plans to further assist women and children in crisis once back home over the summer, Petruk has generously purchased 33 tickets with bonus drink vouchers and other assorted goodie bags for Everett's upcoming game against the Wenatchee Wild. He was also quick to volunteer his services on-camera for a team-sponsored public service announcement as part of the Everett Silvertips organization's partnership with Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County during Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month in February.
"I noticed a few weeks ago that proceeds of ticket sales [on Feb. 18] were benefitting DVS of Snohomish County," he noted. "It reminded me of the similarities to Surrey and I started reading through their website. With limited time left in the season, I wanted to do something for them."
Petruk has additionally invited those in attendance from DVS of Snohomish County to join him after the game for a signing and meet-and-greet.
"Creating a night out for staff, volunteers and victims to enjoy a night out of hockey and meet the team is a chance to thank the volunteers and staff for their hard work. But most importantly, it's a chance to provide some fun moments for women and children who have suffered or been affected by domestic violence."
From the DVS of Snohomish County website:
