Anaheim prospects to attend off-ice conditioning camp
July 10, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cincinnati RailRaiders News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Cincinnati Mighty Ducks defensemen Juha Alen, Sheldon Brookbank, Shane O'Brien, Mark Popovic and forwards George Davis, Curtis Glencross, Michael Holmqvist, Chris Kunitz, Pierre Parenteau, Joel Perrault, Igor Pohanka and Joel Stepp are among the 24 prospects invited to attend the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim's second annual off-ice conditioning camp July 18-30 at Disney Ice in Anaheim, California. The camp, which focuses on off-ice strength and conditioning drills, serves as a training platform for Anaheim's prospects and allows the organization a chance to closely evaluate the progress of the players. Along with daily weight and aerobic training, each player will also receive a personally tailored nutritional recommendation and be tested for strength thresholds, range of movement and aerobic capacity.
"We feel this camp gives our prospects a chance to show their off-ice progression in a competitive environment," Anaheim interim general manager Al Coates said. "At the same time, it allows us to give each of these young men individualized attention to familiarize themselves with the expectations of the organization. Most importantly, it's a chance for the players to build a bond between themselves as future teammates at the NHL level."
Cincinnati begins it's eighth American Hockey League season at Cincinnati Gardens in October. A variety of season-ticket plans are currently on sale and can be purchased by calling the Ducks Ticket Sales Department at (513) 351-3999.
