Ana Tejada: Fast Facts
April 30, 2024 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Utah Royals FC News Release
Utah Royals FC is excited to announce the addition of defender Ana Tejada from Real Sociedad on a three year contract.
Here are three fast facts to get you up to speed on the new URFC defender:
A Champion
The 21-year-old defender comes to Utah Royals having won three trophies as a youth player with the Spanish national team. She has won the UEFA Women's U-17 Championship, FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup and the FIFA U-22 Women's World Cup. The defender was also named to the Team of the Tournament in the 2019 edition of the UEFA Women's U-17 Championship.
A Young Talent
Tejada started her professional career at Dux Logroño in 2017 and helped the second division side earn promotion to Liga F. In 2018 when she made her top tier debut, she was the youngest active player in the league at age 16. She impressed Real Sociedad so much that the very next season, she was playing in Basque Country. At the age of 20, she made her full senior national team debut, coming on as a sub in a 7-0 win against Argentina.
A New Start
Having never played club soccer outside of Spain, moving to the United States will provide a new challenge for a player who has already won a UEFA Championship and a World Cup albeit at the youth levels. She joins a young squad under the tutelage of legendary USWNT forward Amy Rodriguez and will need to learn quickly in the physical and fast-paced nature of the NWSL while also adapting to her new surroundings in Utah.
Utah Royals FC play their next home match on April 27 against Houston Dash with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. MT. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.rsl.com/utahroyals/tickets/.
