Saugerties, NY- The Saugerties Stallions hosted the Amsterdam Mohawks on Wednesday, July 11 after facing off in a double-header Tuesday at Amsterdam. Mohawks pitcher Zack Durant (Herkimer CC) squared off against Stallions All-Star pitcher Nick Zwack (Xavier).
Amsterdam took an early lead on the strength of a two-run home run by Michael Ludowig (Wake Forest), also scoring Richie Barrella (Manhattan).
The Mohawks again scored in the second inning after Cole Barr (Indiana) hit an RBI-single, scoring Justin Foscue (Mississippi State) who singled earlier in the inning. A wild pitch later in the inning scored Jake Hammon (Morehead State), to give Amsterdam a 4-0 lead.
Saugerties scored a run of their own after Derek Ripp (Arkansas) hit into a fielder's choice to score Cam Coakley (Stetson) to cut the Stallions lead down to three.
Amsterdam's power surge would continue after Tanner Allen (Mississippi State) hit a solo-home run to make give the Mohawks a 5-1 lead.
The Stallions continued to chip away, scoring another run in the seventh after Jordan Kozicky (Minnesota) hit an RBI-single to score Noah Searcy (Georgia Southern), making the score 5-2, which Saugerties would eventually lose by.
The Mohawks play again tomorrow, July 12 at home against the Albany Dutchmen and the Stallions also play tomorrow at the Oneonta Outlaws.
