Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The American Hockey League announced today the divisional alignment for 2010-11, which will also mark the AHL's historic 75th season. The Rochester Americans will remain in the Western Conference's North Division as the league will operate with an all-time high 30 active teams in the coming season, guaranteeing all 30 National Hockey League teams their own primary AHL affiliate.

The North Division will have a similar look in 2010-11, consisting of the same seven teams from last season as Rochester will be paired up against the Abbotsford Heat, Grand Rapids Griffins, Hamilton Bulldogs, Lake Erie Monsters, Manitoba Moose and Toronto Marlies.

The two oldest teams in the AHL will usher in the 2010-11 season as the Amerks and the Hershey Bears participate in the historic kick off to the AHL's 75th anniversary season. The Amerks will open their 55th season against their longtime rival on Sunday, October 10th at The Blue Cross Arena.

Rochester will also travel to Hershey to play the Bears on Saturday, October 16th. The games are part of a special set of home-and-home series featuring the AHL's six senior-most cities. The league's 75th season will kick off on Friday, October 8th. The complete schedule will be announced later this summer.

Full-season ticket packages for the 2010-11 AHL season are available starting as low as $320 for 200-Upper End/Balcony level seating and range in pricing up to $650 for 100-Premium level seating. Full-season ticket holder benefits include, but are not limited to, an Amerks Player Party, a magazine subscription discount, a playoff ticket discount, 10 percent off at the team store, parking discount, access to the VIP Season Ticket Holder Gate, a game lineup sheet every game, the opportunity to be the season ticket holder of the game, a season ticket holder gift and a guaranteed seat location

In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 85 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the ninth year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2009-10.
