
AHL Sets 2010-11 Division Alignment

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews announced that the league will operate with an all-time high of 30 active teams in 2010-11, which will also mark the AHL's historic 75th season.
The Admirals will still find themselves in the league's West Division, the same division they have played each of their ten seasons in the AHL. The only change in the Ads' division is the addition of the Oklahoma City Barons, the primary affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, who will be in their first season in the league. The remaining six West Division teams are the Chicago Wolves, Houston Aeros, Peoria Rivermen, Rockford IceHogs, San Antonio Rampage, and Texas Stars (DAL).
All 30 National Hockey League teams will have their own primary affiliate playing in the AHL next fall. The league's Board of Governors has approved the following division alignment for 2010-11 (NHL affiliates in parentheses):
