Amerks Sign Eric Cornel and Brycen Martin to Amateur Tryouts

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has signed forward Eric Cornel and defenseman Brycen Martin to Amateur Tryouts (ATO).

Cornel, 18, recorded 52 points (14+38) and 35 penalty minutes in 66 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games with the Peterborough Petes this season. In 197 career OHL games with Peterborough, the 6-foot-2, 191-pound native of Kemptville, Ontario, has registered 130 points (43+87) and 73 penalty minutes. Cornel was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round (44th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Martin, 18, split the 2014-15 Western Hockey League (WHL) season with the Swift Current Broncos and Saskatoon Blades, totaling a career-high 38 points (7+31) and 41 penalty minutes in 69 games. The 6-foot-2, 198-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, has appeared in 211 career WHL games with Swift Current and Saskatoon, recording 94 points (15+79) and 115 penalty minutes. Martin was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round (74th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
