
Amerks Debut Billboard Marketing Initiative Today

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans' 2008-09 season might be six weeks away, but motorists in the Rochester area awoke this morning to the team's new marketing campaign. The Amerks' kicked off their billboard marketing campaign this morning as 27 billboards were placed throughout city and neighboring suburbs.
"A New Day... For A Rochester Tradition," is the theme for the Amerks' 53rd season in the American Hockey League. This year the second oldest team in the AHL begins play with new ownership, a new head coach, new player and a new commitment to winning.
The billboards feature to distinct looks with the first featuring the No. 1 ranked logo in the AHL. The shield, featuring with traditional text of Americans spanning across the shield of the red, white and blue stars and stripes, overlays red rays of light.
The second version highlights 2006-07 team MVP and recently signed forward, Janis Sprukts. He returns to the club after a one-year hiatus after spending last season in Finland.
The billboards are up seven weeks prior to the home opener on Friday, October 10th against the Syracuse Crunch at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. Faceoff is slated for 7:35 p.m.
The billboards will let everyone know that even though it's only August its almost time for hockey. Individual tickets to the first game along with season ticket packages and group packages are available for the 40 game regular season.
