Tri-City Americans News Release
Everett, WA - A five-minute stretch in the second period sunk the Tri-City Americans Wednesday night as the Everett Silvertips scored four goals in a 6-2 Everett win.
The Americans got started on the right foot when Jake Sloan opened the scoring 4:05 into the game. Sloan gained the Everett line before making a nice move around a defender and wiring a shot past the blocker of Tyler Palmer for his fourth goal of the season. Jordan Gavin picked up the lone assist.
The lead didn't last long however as the Silvertips struck back quickly. Austin Roest took a centering pass and fired a one timer from the high slot that beat a screened Nick Avakyan to tie the game less than two minutes after the opening goal.
The first period came to an end with the game tied at one and Everett holding a 12-10 shot advantage.
Tri-City killed off an early penalty in the second period, but the Silvertips took control of the game near the midway point of the middle frame. After Roest scored his second of the game at 7:49, Everett went off for four goals in a span of 4:54 to take a commanding 5-1 lead. That included Roest collecting a hat trick.
The Americans trailed 5-1 heading into the third with the shots favoring Everett 23-17.
The third period saw the two teams trade goals with Brandon Whynott scoring his fourth goal of the season late in regulation. All four of his goals this season have come against the Silvertips.
Tri-City outshot Everett 10-6 in the third period.
The Americans next game action comes Friday night as they meet the Kamloops Blazers for a pair of games this weekend at the Sandman Centre.
