Americans Battle Back in Third to Win Tight 2-1 Game

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans win a thriller on Tuesday night, 2-1 over the Arizona Sundogs, in front of a announced crowd of 3,879 at Allen Event Center.
It was a battle of the goaltenders, as both Aaron Dell of the Americans and David Brown of the Sundogs duked it out like two prize fighters fighting for the gold. David Brown slammed the door on two breakaways for the Americans, robbing both Darryl Bootland and Adam Pineault. At the other end, it was Aaron Dell with spectacular save after spectacular save, not giving an inch to keep the game scoreless through the first 40 minutes of play.
In the third, the Sundogs would gain the first advantage when forward Derek LeBlanc took the puck to the front of the Allen net and put one past Aaron Dell to give Arizona a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal. Just over two minutes later, Sundogs netminder David Brown got caught behind his own net, while Adam Pineault delivered a pass to Chris Doyle alone in front for his second goal of the season on the power play and the game was tied again at 1-1. It looked like overtime was in the cards until Adam Pineault ripped one from the left wing boards down low for his 13th of the season, to give the Americans a 2-1 lead. Arizona pulled the goaltender late in the period, but was unable to get another past Dell, as the Americans would hold on for the one goal victory.
With the win, Allen has guaranteed no worse than 4th in the standings and has ensured themselves home-ice for round one of the playoffs.
