Quebec 6, Winnipeg 5
The Quebec Capitales edged out the Winnipeg Goldeyes 6-5 to take an interleague matchup for the Can-Am league.
RF Asif Shah paced the Capitales with a 3-4 game that included two runs and an RBI while 2BMike Provencher and C Jean-Luc Blaquiere each homered in the game.
Shawn Sanford started the game for Quebec and got the win after 6.1 innings that included five earned runs and seven hits. Sanford struck out five Winnipeg hitters and walked two.
Rockland 14, St. Paul 5
The Rockland Boulders erupted offensively against the St. Paul Saints, totaling 14 hits to pick up a 14-5 win.
The night was highlighted by a ten-run sixth inning and RF Ryan Stovall proved to be the top hitter of the team. Stovall homered for the sixth time of the season in a 4-6 game that featured five RBIs and three runs.
Richard Salazar did more than enough to help give Rockland the win, throwing five, four-run innings.
Lincoln 0, Gary SouthShore 0 (Suspended)
The game between the Lincoln Saltdogs and the Gary SouthsShore RailCats was suspended in the second inning with the teams tied at 0 due to rain. The game will pick up tomorrow at 2:10 p.m. and will be followed by a seven-inning series finale.
Amarillo 6, Grand Prairie 3
The Amarillo Sox doubled up the Grand Prairie AirHogs 6-3 thanks to a strong pitching performance.
Matt Larkins got the nod for the Sox and answered the call with a 7.2 inning outing and held the AirHogs to just two runs on five hits. Larkins struck out seven batters and walked two before handing the ball off to Kellen Moen for a 1.1 inning save.
1B Kyle Nichols led Amarillo at the plate after going 3-4 with his fourth double of the year, two RBIs and a run.
Sioux Falls 5, Sioux City 1
The Sioux Falls Canaries limited the Sioux City Explorers to just one run over nine innings and scored five of their own to take a 5-1 victory.
The lessened the load for the Sioux Falls hitters, who only needed nine hits to take five runs and the win. The back of the lineup did a lot of the work for the Canaries, with the seven, eight and nine hitters ( DH Chris Duffy, SS Stephen Branca and C Kevin Dultz) scoring each of the runs.
The three combined to go 5-11 with a walk and five runs. Branca led the group and the team with a three-hit night.
Laredo 7, Kansas City 3
The Laredo Lemurs outscored the Kansas City T-Bones 7-3 despite producing the same amount of hits (12) as the T-Bones.
The Lemurs struck in the first two innings--once in the first and three times during the second--before tacking on a few insurance runs in the fourth, fifth and eighth frames. CF Nick Van Stratten and DH J.P. Ramirez both homered in the game out of the one- and two-holes respectively.
Michael Suk grabbed the win for Laredo after two relief innings that featured a strikeout, two hits and one run allowed.
Wichita 8, Fargo-Moorhead 7
The Wichita Wingnuts edged out the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 8-7 thanks to a crucial run in the bottom of the ninth inning.
CF Brent Clevlen led off the final inning with a ground rule double and with 1B/DH J.T. Wise at the plate, Clevlen advanced to third on a wild pitch and then home again on another wild pitch to grab a wild walk-off victory.
Clevlen went 2-4 on the night with an RBI and a run, while Wise went 2-4 with his sixth home run and his 13th double of the season.
