Wichita 8, Laredo 2 (Wichita wins series, 3-0)
After falling behind early 1-0 in game three, the Wichita Wingnuts scored four runs in the third inning to take control of the game and would go on to defeat the Laredo Lemurs, 8-2. Wichita sweeps the first round series and moves on to the championship series to face Winnipeg. Wingnuts RF David Peralta had a solid game at the plate going 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Wichita SS Ryan Khoury collected three hits while LF Steve Stanley had a 2-for-3 night with two runs scored. Wingnuts starting pitcher Derek Blacksher notched the victory as he allowed two earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts.
Winnipeg 4, Fargo-Moorhead 1 (Winnipeg wins series, 3-0)
The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning and would go on to beat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks by the score of 4-1 in game three of their first round series. With the win, Winnipeg sweeps Fargo-Moorhead and advances to the championship series. Goldeyes starting pitcher Matthew Rusch was excellent tonight as he went seven innings allowing only one earned run on eight hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Offensively for Winnipeg, 3B Amos Ramon went 1-for-1 in the game with two walks and two RBI while DH Barbaro Canizares and 1B Josh Mazzola each collected a hit and scored a run. For Fargo-Moorhead in the loss, C Ryan Delgado had two hits.
