Winnipeg 5, Fargo-Moorhead 3 (Winnipeg leads series, 2-0)
Trailing 3-0 after six innings, the Winnipeg Goldeyes made a big rally scoring two runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth to take a 5-3 lead and would go on to win by that same score over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. With the victory, Winnipeg leads the series 2-0 and can advance to the championship series with a win tomorrow night at Shaw Park. Offensively for the Goldeyes, DH Barbaro Canizares and 1B Josh Mazzola went a combined 5-for-8 at the plate with four runs scored and four RBI. Mazzola chipped in with two home runs in the game. Winnipeg reliever Zach Baldwin picked up the win after tossing 2/3 of an inning and striking out one batter.
Wichita 9, Laredo 5 (Wichita leads series, 2-0)
Wichita jumped on Laredo early scoring four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead and would cruise to a 9-5 victory in game two of their first round series. The Wingnuts lead the series 2-0 and can wrap up it up with a win tomorrow night back at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. Wichita had 10 hits in the game with five of them being home runs. Wingnuts DH John Rodriguez launched two of those home runs in a 3-for-4 night at the plate with four RBI. Wichita starting pitcher Ryan Hinson notched the victory as he gave up an earned run on four hits in 6 2/3 innings pitched.
