Canaries' starting pitcher Doug Johnson allowed just three hits through 6.2 innings and struck out four to pick up his first victory this season. Sioux Falls CF Jason Sugden was 2-for-4 to help the Canaries' offense to 11 hits for the game, eight more than St. Paul. St. Joe headed into the bottom of the ninth having surrendered their one-run lead the inning before and managed to produce the winning run without recording a hit. After CF Scooter Jordan walked to lead off the inning, he moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by 3B Ben Thomas. What would happen next, you certainly don't see every day. RF Wil Quintana hit a fly ball deep to right sending the outfielder on a long run to make the play. When his momentum carried him towards the corner after making the catch, Jordan, who has outstanding speed, was waved home to beat the throw on a rare, two-base sacrifice fly to win the game.

After jumping out to a 4-1 lead after three innings, the Diablos would see that advantage fade as the Cats plated a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to tie the game at four. The score would remain tied until the ninth when the Diablos came up with two runs to notch their 11th win of the season. El Paso was powered by 3-hit games from DH Jorge Alvarez and Castillo who were each 3-for-5. Castillo's home run was a 3-run blast and he would later add anther RBI to give him four for the game to lead the Diablos' offense. Fort Worth had three of their own record multi-hit games, led by 1B Jordan Foster who was 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the losing effort. The crowd of 6,102 was the biggest Fort Worth has seen this season.
