Pensacola 11, Grand Prairie 3

The Pelicans gave starting pitcher Jared Gothreaux all the support he needed as Pensacola cruised to an 11-3 victory. Gothreaux, improved to 9-8 on the season by surrendering two earned runs in seven innings of work, thriving on the fireworks provided by DH John Alonso (3-for-4, three runs scored, home run, two RBI) and C Lou Palmisano (2-for-3, three runs scored, home run, two RBI). The AirHogs offense was held in check by Gothreaux and the Pelicans' bullpen, but 1B Ernie Banks drilled his second home run of the season in the second to get Grand Prairie on the board.

Shreveport-Bossier 2, El Paso 0

The Captains' took their eighth straight game in style in shutting out El Paso to complete a series sweep with a 2-0 victory. Ace Richard Salazar improved to 10-4 with a 3.78 ERA on the season by surrendering just four singles in seven shutout innings. RHP David Whigham surrendered only a single earned run in eight innings, but took the loss with little help from his offense. Captains' 2B Jorge Alvarez enjoyed a 2-for-4 night and drove in one of the team's two runs. RF Rico Santana had two of El Paso's four hits on the night.

Sioux Falls 6, St. Paul 1

LF Beau Torbert broke the all-time American Association single-season hits record with a third-inning single, and later added his 23rd home run in a 6-1 Sioux Falls victory over St. Paul. 2B Joe Anthonsen contributed a 3-for-4 night with two RBI from the leadoff spot in Sioux Falls' team record 61st win on the season. RHP Ben Moore improved to 11-8 with a 3.10 ERA with seven innings of one-run ball, striking out nine Saints. St. Paul scored its lone run on a solo home run from CF Josh Burrus in the top of the seventh inning.
