The St. Paul Saints won their 25th game of the second half behind a good offensive effort and a strong outing from starting pitcher Charlie Ruud. The Saints pounded out 14 hits in the game, led by 2B Demetrius Heath, who was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Saints DH Marcel Longmire also had a good night, going 2-for-5 with a home run, his 15th, two runs scored and two RBI. Ruud allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits and struck out four in 6 2/3 innings to improve to 11-3 on the year. Lincoln SS Tony Garcia was 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in the losing effort.

Shreveport 5, El Paso 3

The Shreveport Sports got a great outing from starting pitcher Derek Cunningham to upend El Paso and improve to 20-24 in the second half. Cunningham allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits and struck out seven en route to a complete game victory. Cunningham induced 11 ground ball outs and did not walk a batter while improving his record to 4-6 on the season. Sports C Tommy Bryant was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI to lead the way offensively. RF JP Schmidt was also 2-for-4 for Shreveport, including his 25th double of the season.

Fort Worth 9, Coastal Bend 3

The Fort Worth Cats used a five-run second inning to build a lead that they would never relinquish as they won easily and improved to a league-best 29-15 in the second half. The Cats pounded out 15 hits in the game, led by C Kelley Gulledge who was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Fort Worth 2B KJ Hendricks was also 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Cats starting pitcher Lee Gwaltney pitched well to earn his sixth win of the year. He allowed three runs, one earned, on seven hits and struck out five in seven innings of work to improve to 6-2 on the year.

Sioux City 16, Sioux Falls 3

In a game that was all Sioux City, the Explorers got four in the first inning and never looked back, en route to a blowout on the road. RF Brandon Jones had a big night for Sioux City. He was 2-for-6 with two home runs and six RBI. DH Alex Llanos also homered for the Explorers and finished the game 3-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBI. Sioux City CF Pete Pirman led all hitters, going 4-for-6 with two runs scored from the leadoff hole. Each of the Explorers one through six hitters recorded at least two hits in the ballgame. Sioux City starter Alexander Francisco notched the win to improve to 10-6 on the year.

Pensacola 5, St. Joe 4 (12 innings)

The two teams combined to pound out 27 hits in the 12 inning marathon, but in the end it was Pensacola that found a way to win. Three separate players recorded three hits for the Pelicans, including RF Bo Brown, who was 3-for-3 with a run scored. Pensacola reliever Chris Thompson recorded the win for the second consecutive night to improve to 6-5 on the year. Thompson did not allow a run in two innings of work. He allowed two hits and struck out three. St. Joe DH Andy Wilson was 2-for-6 with two RBI and two stolen bases to lead the Blacksnakes in the losing effort.
