Shreveport jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and held on to take a 5-3 victory over Pensacola. Starting pitcher Bert Snow allowed just one run on three hits over six innings of work to pick up the win and improve to 9-3 on the season. At the plate for the Sports, 2B Neb Brown and DH Chad Gambill each had two hits and two RBI in the game. Gambill homered in the game, his 10th of the year. C Jose Yepez homered and drove in two runs for the Pelicans.

Fort Worth 4, St. Joe 2

Fort Worth pounded out 12 hits en route to a 4-2 over St. Joe. With the win, Fort Worth clinched the second half South Division title and a playoff spot. The Cats' starting pitcher Cory Walters was impressive, giving up just two runs on five hits over seven innings to pick up his 14th win of the season. Closer Steve Wilkerson also pitched well, allowing just one hit in a scoreless ninth inning to notch his 18th save. For St. Joe, 1B Mark Burke hit his fifth homerun of the season. With the loss by the Blacksnakes, St. Paul clinches the North Division wild card.

Lincoln CF Evan Tartaglia and RF Paul Powell combined for six hits, three doubles and three RBI to lead the Saltdogs past Sioux Falls 6-5. Starting pitcher Lindsay Gulin allowed just three runs over six innings of work to pick up the win. With the win, Gulin improved to 13-2 for the year. Relief pitcher Scott Vandermeer allowed one run in the ninth, but held on to close out the game and pick up his fourth save. Sioux Falls 1B Bubba Smith had two hits and RBI in the game to lead the Canaries at the plate.
