St. Joe edged first-place Lincoln to remain within three games of St. Paul for the North Division Wild Card. Blacksnakes starting pitcher J.C. Huguet allowed two runs on five hits and struck out five in eight innings of work to improve to 5-3 on the season. Closer Jamie Tricoglou worked out of a ninth-inning jam to earn his 15th save. LF Cory Harris led his team at the plate, going 1-for-3, including his 13th home run of the year, with two runs scored and an RBI. Lincoln SS Casey Gordon hit his second home run of the year in a 1-for-4 effort.

St. Paul 7, Sioux City 1

St. Paul did its best to keep the Wild Card lead, beating Sioux City 7-1 and keeping the St. Joe Blacksnakes, who also won, three games back of the lead. The Saints got a solid start from right-hander Charlie Ruud who allowed one run on five hits and struck out three in seven innings of work to improve to 6-5 on the season. St. Paul did all of its scoring in the first three innings and got a big day from 1B Brian Buchanan, who was 2-for-4, including his eighth home run of the year, with a run scored and three runs batted in. The Explorers' only run came on a Mike Richardson homer in the third, his ninth.

Shreveport 7, Coastal Bend 1

Shreveport got a good outing out of starting pitcher Derek Cunningham to improve to 17-15 in the second half, keeping them within 4 ½ games of the South Division lead. Cunningham allowed one run on three hits and struck out six in six innings of work to earn his second win of the season. DH Chad Gambill led the Sports at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a run scored and two runs batted in and LF Todd Self hit his fifth home run in a 1-for-3 effort in which he scored twice and drove in three runs. Coastal Bend DH Pat O'Sullivan was the only player with more than one hit for the Aviators. He was 2-for-4.

Fort Worth 6, Sioux Falls 4

Fort Worth padded its lead in the South Division with a 6-4 win over Sioux Falls on the road to improve to 22-11 in the second half. Joel Kirsten picked up his sixth win of the year for the Cats allowing three runs on five hits through 5 1/3 innings of work. CF Jordan Foster had a good night offensively, scoring three runs in a 2-for-4 effort and 1B Shawn Williams was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. Sioux Falls DH Chad Hermansen hit his 16th home run of the season in a 2-for-5 night in which he scored twice and drove in three.
