It was a story of two big innings for El Paso as they scored six times in the second inning and five times in the fifth inning to give them an 11-1 lead that would which they would never relinquish. Diablos starting pitcher Robert Wachman allowed two runs, both earned, on eight hits through 5 2/3 innings and struck out seven to improve to 3-1 on the season. Pensacola did mount a significant comeback attempt in the seventh inning when they managed four runs, but that only cut the lead to five and El Paso's bullpen put the game away to improve the team's record to 7-10 so far in the second half.

Lincoln 4, St. Paul 0

Lincoln got a stellar performance on the mound from starting pitcher Kyle Ruwe, who struck out three en route to a four-hit shutout, improving his record to 6-5 on the season. The win was the Saltdogs' ninth of the second half and places them in a three-way tie with St. Paul and Sioux Falls for first place in the North Division. Lincoln got three-hit games from DH Kevin Sullivan, RF Bryan Warner and 1B Brett Cooley. The three combined to go 9-for-13 in the game and CF Evan Tartaglia chipped in a 2-for-5 performance, hitting two triples and scoring two runs from the leadoff spot. St. Paul 2B Steve Butler was the only player for the Saints to record more than one hit in the losing effort. He was 2-for-3.

Shreveport 13, Sioux City 1

Shreveport got plenty of offense in support of starting pitcher Ryan Snyder to help the team improve to 8-10 in the second half. The Sports pounded out 14 hits and plated 13 runs, getting home runs from 2B Neb Brown, DH Chad Gambill, C Tommy Bryant and his replacement, C Nick Corbeil. Snyder did the rest, going six innings and scattering seven hits, while not allowing a run and striking out three. The loss for Sioux City drops them a ½ game out of first place in the North Division behind St. Paul, Sioux Falls and Lincoln.

St. Joe 8, Sioux Falls 4

Sioux Falls jumped out to an early lead after scoring a four runs in the second inning. But the Blacksnakes would pull to within a run after the second, and tie the game in the fourth, before manufacturing four runs late to double up the Canaries and notch their seventh win of the season. The loss prevents Sioux Falls from jumping the three teams in front of them and instead leaves them in a three-way tie for first place with St. Paul and Lincoln.

Fort Worth 5, Coastal Bend 4 (12 innings)

Coastal Bend has been hard to beat in the second half, but Fort Worth found a way to do so, in 12 innings. Right-hander Steven Wilkerson pitched four innings of relief in which he allowed just one run, earned, on three hits and struck out two to improve to 3-0 on the year and help his team move within three games of Coastal Bend for the top spot in the South Division. 2B Kip Harkrider had a solid night for the Cats, going 4-for-6 with a run scored and Jordan Foster chipped in with a 1-for-5 night, including a three-run home run. C Kris Zacuto was 2-for-5 in the win as well, driving in the only other Fort Worth runs.
