Gary SouthShore 7, Chicago 5- Box Score

The Gary SouthShore RailCats held on to top the Chicago Dogs 7-5 on Sunday.

The RailCats scored first on an RBI single by CF Evan Marzilli in the top of the fourth. One inning later, 1B Randy Santiestiban hit an RBI single, RF Edgar Corcino was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and John Price Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to give Gary SouthShore a 4-0 lead. C Danny De La Calle hit a solo home run in the next inning to make it 5-0. The Dogs cut the deficit to one by the top of the ninth, but 3B Thomas Walvraven put the game away with a two-run double in the top of the ninth.

1B Keon Barnum hit a solo home run for Chicago in the bottom of the eighth.

Texas 6, Winnipeg 4- Box Score

The Texas AirHogs picked up their first win of the season against the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Sunday.

LF Stewart Ijames led the AirHogs, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.

SS Adrian Marin Paced the Goldeyes, going 1-for-5 with two RBIs.

SP Kevin Hilton earned the win, giving up two unearned runs in 5.2 innings of work. RHP Taylor Wright took over for Hilton, holding Winnipeg to two earned in 3.1 innings of relief.

Fargo-Moorhead 7, Kansas City 2 (F/7 Game One of Doubleheder)- Box Score

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks took game one of a double-header against the Kansas City T-bones Sunday afternoon by a score of 7-2.

CF Darnell Sweeney hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first to give the T-Bones a 1-0 lead. The RedHawks tied the game when CF Devan Ahart hit an RBI single in the top of the third. Fargo-Moorhead took a 3-1 lead one inning late with one run coming on a sac-bunt by DH Tyler Wolfe and another run coming on an RBI single by SS Yhoxian Medina. Kansas City cut the deficit to one on an RBI single by RF Forresstt Allday in the bottom of the sixth. However, the RedHawks took a commanding lead with a four run top of the seventh that included a solo home run by 1B Chris Jacobs.

SP Sebastian Kessay (1-0) was awarded the win after giving up just one earned in his four-inning start. RHP Geoff Broussard pitched the final 1.2 innings of baseball to earn the save.
