Shreveport-Bossier 5, Grand Prairie 4
Grand Prairie had 12 hits to Shreveport-Bossier's 10, but the Captains edged the AirHogs 5-4 at Fair Grounds Field. Shreveport-Bossier scored in the bottom of the first inning when right fielder Bryan Sabatella and designated hitter Palmer Karr Jr. each batted in a run, but Grand Prairie got on the board in the next frame when designated hitter Zane Chavez had an RBI-single. The Captains scored their last three runs in the bottom of the third inning when Sabatella, third baseman Andres Rodriguez and first baseman Uriak Marquez each had an RBI. Grand Prairie added one n the fourth and two more in the sixth, but it wasn't enough to top the Captains. Shortstop Guillermo Martinez led Grand Prairie with three hits and two runs in four at-bats, and Chavez chipped in three hits and two RBI. Only two Captains recorded multiple hits in the game, and Sabatella led with two hits, two runs and two RBI in four at-bats, while catcher Brian Peterson chipped in three hits in three at-bats. Josh Strawn, now 1-0 on the season, earned the win by allowing 10 hits, four runs and striking out four in 7.2 innings pitched.
Wichita 8, Kansas City 3
Left fielder Mike Conroy had three hits, three runs and one RBI in five at-bats to help lead Wichita to an 8-3 win against Kansas City at Lawrence Durmont Stadium. The Wingnuts scored four runs on two hits in the bottom of the first inning, but Kansas City scored two in the second when left fielder Aharon Eggleston scored a two-run homer to help the T-Bones catch up. Wichita scored four of the next five runs in the game and earned a run in each of the second, fourth, seventh and eighth innings to top the T-Bones. Wichita recorded 11 total hits in the game, while Kansas City had just six. Eggleston was the only T-Bone to register multiple hits, and he led Kansas City with one hit, one run and two RBI in four at-bats. Three different Wingnuts had more than one hit, and second baseman Thomas Fitzgerald added three hits and one run in four at-bats. Derek Blacksher, now 3-6 on the season, earned the win by allowing six hits, three runs and striking out five in seven innings pitched.
Fort Worth 10, El Paso 9
Fort Worth scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to catch up and edge El Paso 10-9 at LaGrave Field. After two innings, El Paso held a 3-0 lead, but Fort Worth tied the score in the bottom of the fifth inning when third baseman Will Calhoun batted in two runs. El Paso scored six of the next eight runs during the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, but Forth Worth turned it on the in bottom of the ninth. Trailing El Paso 9-5 in the ninth inning, four different Cats recorded at least one RBI, and Fort Worth scored five runs in four hits to seal the deal. Calhoun led Forth Worth with four hits, one run and five RBI in four at-bats, while designated hitter John Allen chipped in three hits and three runs in four at-bats. Shortstop Maikol Gonzalez was one of three Diablos to record multiple hits in the game, and he had two hits, two runs and two RBI in four at-bats. Nick DeBarr, now 3-4 on the season, earned the win by allowing no hits, no runs and striking out one in one inning pitched.
Sioux Falls 6, Fargo-Moorhead 5 (12 innings)
Sioux Falls designated hitter Mark Shorey had an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to send the game into extra innings, and the Pheasants topped Fargo-Moorhead 6-5 in 12 innings at Sioux Falls Stadium. The Pheasants scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Fargo-Moorhead tied it in the fifth when right fielder Jonathan Wyatt had a solo home run. Fargo-Moorhead and Sioux Falls each had two more runs before the eighth, when the Pheasants scored the tying run. Each team had a run in the 10th inning, and catcher Henry Contreras scored the winning run in the 12th for Sioux Falls. Two different Pheasants recorded multiple hits, and Reggie Abercrombie led with two hits and two runs in six at-bats, while second baseman Carlo Cota chipped in two hits, two runs and two RBI in three at-bats for Fargo-Moorhead. Dan McDaniel, now 2-2 on the season, earned the win by allowing two hits, no runs and striking out no batters in two innings pitched.
