The RailCats claimed a narrow win in the matinee finale of a three-game series at Newman Outdoor Field. RedHawks CF Nic Jackson hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning to open the scoring, but his team was not able to hold the lead. Gary scored in the second when 1B Adam Humes reached on an error and scored on an RBI single from CF Drew Muren.
2B Zac Mitchell singled in the fifth for the RailCats, and scored when C Ryan Babineau hit an RBI double. Gary held the lead throughout the rest of the game to preserve the win.
Mitchell, Babineau and SS Ryan Brockett had two hits each for Gary. RHP Dustin Crenshaw scattered five hits over seven and 2/3 innings in a start for the RailCats, striking out two. He earned his sixth win of the season with the effort. LHP Chuck Fontana got the last out of the game for his third save.
