St. Louis Ambush News Release

St. Charles, MO - St. Louis Ambush defender Robert Acosta earned selection to the 1st Team All-MASL for the 2017-18 season. The league announced the 1st Team in Kansas City today. Earlier this week, the MASL announced the All-Rookie and Rookie Honorable Mentions as well as 2nd Team, 3rd Team and Honorable Mention All-MASL Teams.

The 2017-18 season was Acosta's fifth professional indoor season and his first with the Ambush. He previously played for the Norfolk SharX (MISL), Rochester Lancers (MASL), and two seasons with the Cedar Rapids Rampage (MASL). Acosta appeared in all 22 Ambush games, leading the league in blocked shots with 49. Rob is a native of Tuscon, Arizona who has played professional and semi-pro outdoor and arena soccer in nine different cities in the U.S. and abroad.

Acosta joins teammates Pablo Da Silva and Paulo Nascimento, who both received Honorable Mention from the league in the All-MASL awards and All-Rookie awards respectively.

The league awards are a prelude to the MASL Conference Finals to be held this weekend. The Milwaukee Wave travel to the Baltimore Blast on Friday and the Monterrey Flash host the San Diego Sockers on Sunday as all four teams try to earn a spot in the Ron Newman Cup Championship.

Each team in the MASL was invited to submit a vote from their General Manager or Head Coach for the MASL post-season awards. The MASL will hold a press conference prior to the Ron Newman Cup Championship to announce the winners for MASL MVP, Goalkeeper of the Year, Defender of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year awards.
