Allentown Ambassadors News Release

The Allentown Ambassadors scored seven run in the first four innings and cruised to a 7-1 win over the New Jersey Jackals behind a club record thirteen strikeouts from John Dillinger.

Dillinger only gave up one run in the game, and it came in the top of the first inning in the form of a solo home run by Travis Bailey, his eighth.

The Ambassadors struck right back in the bottom of the inning. Jorge Diaz walked to lead things off, followed by back-to-back singles by Ender Gonzalez and Marlon Roche to load the bases. Vic Davilla followed with an RBI groundout, and then Ryan Bordenick hit a two run single. Roche now has a 12 game hitting streak.

The Ambassadors would add four more in the bottom of the fourth off Jackal ace Aaron Myers. Bordenick led-off with a double, then Brian Macchi lined out to left. Dan Singletary doubled home Bordenick. He stole third, and then scored on a Julio Acosta single. Schuyler Doakes then reached on a fielder's choice, with Acosta out at second base. Diaz followed with his first professional home run, a two run shot that just cleared the wall down the right field line.

That was all the runs Dillinger would need, as he scattered 6 hits over nine innings and set the new club record with 13 strikeouts. The previous record was 11, a number Dillinger had reached three times previously, including once this season. The win was Dillinger's third of the season, and his second complete game. The loss was the second of the year for Myers.

The victory brings the Ambassadors to within four and a half games of the division leading Jackals. The Ambassadors are now 11-12 on the season, the Jackals a league best 16-8. The two teams finish the series tomorrow night at Bicentennial Park. Game time is 7:05.
