Allentown Ambassadors News Release

The Allentown Ambassadors lost an exhibition game 9-2 today to the defending league champion New Jersey Jackals at Yogi Berra Stadium in New Jersey.

The game was not as lopsided as the score would indicate, as the score was 3-2 Jackals heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. But the Jackals sent ten men to the plate and scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh off reliever Julio Jimenez to break the game open.

The Jackals started strong, getting three runs in the first two innings off Ambassador starter Tim Davidson on three triples and two sacrifice flies. The Ambassadors rallied in the top of the sixth inning, as Vic Davilla hit a two run double to score Jorge Diaz and Marlon Roche. That made the score 3-2.

Carlos Gomez and Charles Lawton each pitched two scoreless innings in-between Davidson and Jimenez. But the Ambassador hitters were unable to touch Jackals' starter John DeSilva, who threw three perfect innings to pick-up the win. Davidson took the loss.

The Ambassadors' next exhibition game is Sunday against the Russian National Team at Bicentennial Park. Game time is 2:05 and tickets are $2 at the gate. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The game will also be televised on a tape delay on Service Electric TV-2. The Ambassadors' regular season begins with the home opener on May 22nd at 7:05 against the Bangor Lumberjacks. For ticket information, call (610) 437-6800.
