
Ambassadors Add Veteran Roche

Allentown Ambassadors News Release
The Allentown Ambassadors signed veteran outfielder Marlon Roche, team officials announced today.
Roche, 27, was signed by the Houston Astros as a nondrafted free agent in 1992 and played in the Astro organization for five seasons before being released in 1997. He took one year off and then signed with Albany-Colonie in 1999.
In three seasons with Albany-Colonie Roche hit .313, .339. and .336. His power peaked in 2001 when he hit 10 home runs and had 48 RBI. He also won a Northern League championship in 1999. Last season Roche played for Duluth-Superior in the Northern League Central and hit .287 with eight home runs and 36 RBI.
³Marlon¹s a good veteran player,² Ambassadors¹ Director of Player Procurement Vic Davilla said. ³He¹s solid out in the field and he¹s a good hitter. Just an all-around good player.
The Ambassadors will be holding open tryouts May 3rd at 9 A.M. at Bicentennial Park. Participants need to bring their gear and $30. The Ambassadors¹ season begins with the home opener on May 22nd at 7:05 against the Bangor Lumberjacks. For ticket information, call (610) 437-6800.
