THE SERIES-INSIDE THE NUMBERS: This is the second of eight meetings in the Battle Of The Cattle Series between the Amarillo Bulls and the Lone Star Brahmas. The two teams met on opening weekend in September and the Bulls suffered a 4-2 setback. The two teams will meet again at the end of the month at NYTEX Sports Center in North Richland Hills, TX.

Historically, it's the 52nd all time meeting between the Bulls and the Brahmas that early on was dominated by Amarillo but lately has seen Lone Star with the advantage. Over the last two years the Bulls are now one game below .500 6-14 versus the Brahmas and two wins have come in North Richland Hills.

HEAD OF THE PACK: For the first time in nearly five years, the Amarillo Bulls sit atop not only the South Division but the North American Hockey League's overall standings. The Bulls are first by winning percentage ahead of Topeka in the South and Johnstown in the overall. The Bulls have won six games in a row including the last two at home.

AWARDS FOR THE BULLS: Defenseman Brenden Datema was chosen as the South Division Player of The Week, giving the Bulls the award two consecutive times. Alex Peterson took home the prize last week. Meantime, Datema and Jason Brancheau were chosen as NAHL Players Of The Month for September. Datema as the top defenseman and Brancheau as the forward.

BRAHMAS NOTES: It's been a struggle offensively for the Lone Star Brahmas this season. In two of their first seven games, Dan Wildfong's bunch has netted just four and three goals respectively, and they both resulted in victories. However, in a stretch of five consecutive games and losses, the Brahmas have only manage one goal in each. .

ACROSS THE SOUTH: There is just one other game in the South Division this weekend and it features the Topeka Pilots visiting the Springfield Jr. Blues or a pair of games. Topeka and Springfield have had a long standing rivalry between the two teams for many years. The Odessa Jackalopes, Corpus Christi IceRays and the Shreveport Mudbugs have the weekend.
