Amarillo Bulls News Release
BROADCAST OPTIONS: Pre-game show coverage presented by Wayland Baptist University starts at 6:40 pm. Denis J. Puska has the hard hitting action at 7 pm. Listen live on CBS Sports Radio 1440, online at www.amarillobulls.com and on PPV with Fast Hockey.
BULLS NEXT GAME UP: It's an off weekend for the Amarillo Bulls this Friday and Saturday before returning home to on Friday, Mar. 11 and Saturday, Mar. 12 to host the Topeka RoadRunners at 7 pm. Friday's game is co-sponsored by Community Options and 806 Sports, while Saturday is the Khiva Shriners Night. The Bulls will wear specialty jerseys that weekend in support of the Shriners with an auction to follow after Saturday's game.
THE SERIES: It's the 10th meeting of the season between the Amarillo Bulls and the Wichita Falls Wildcats. After Wednesday's confrontation the two teams will meet twice more on Friday, Mar. 18 and Saturday, Mar. 19 at Kay Yeager Coliseum. Seven of the previous nine meetings have been decided by two goals. Six of the Amarillo markers have been tallied via special teams (five power play and another shorthanded).
MONTHLY NUMBERS: Even though the month of February netted just two wins for the Amarillo Bulls, it did give several players some very good numbers. Forward George Mika and fellow Floridian Jeff Solow each had eight points (Mika four goals and four assists; Solow two goals and six assists), while forward Coale Norris tallied six goals and set up another for seven points.
The month of March will feature a total of eight games with four (the final four of the regular season) at home. The Bulls will face the Wichita Fall Wildcats for three, the Lone Star Brahmas and Topeka RoadRunners each for two, and the Odessa Jackalopes for a single one.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: It's hard to believe but the Amarillo Bulls have played in 31 games decided by two goals or less, and 12 three goal contests. The Bulls have been in most games this season with just five decided by five goals or more. The power play has certainly been a bright spot lately moving up to 10th in the overall numbers including ninth on the road. George Mika has four goals on the man advantage on the road, while Charlie Singerhouse, Tyler Hall and Coale Norris each have two. The 860 penalty minutes accumulated by the Bulls this season is the second lowest in the South Division.
