Amarillo Bulls News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - The Amarillo Bulls gave the Lone Star Brahmas all they could handle for the first 42 minutes on Friday night. The hometown Brahmas broke open a close 3-2 game with four unanswered goals and went on to beat the Bulls 7-2 at NYTEX Sports Center. That loss extended the Bulls winless streak to 0-6-2 in their last eight games.

Keenan Sabatini and Johan Lundgren potted goals for the Bulls, while goaltender Anton Martinsson took the loss in goal.

The Bulls will close out a stretch of three straight weekends in a row on the road with a game against the Brahmas tomorrow (Saturday) night at 7:30 pm. (Pre-game coverage 7:10 pm CBS Sports Radio 1440, online at www.amarillobulls.com and PPV Fast Hockey).

It was a fast-skating, quick-paced opening 20 minutes as the Battle Of The Cattle Series resumed with round 2. The Brahmas scored the game's first goal on a shot that eluded goaltender Anton Martinsson on the short side. Six minutes later, the Bulls tie the game with tremendous pressure. Forwards Liam Ferguson and Michael Forman pushed the puck to Keenan Sabatini who was able to hammer it home and tie the game. Late in the stanza, the Brahmas regain the advantage as they capitalized on a defensive turnover. The Brahmas outshot the Bulls 16-12. There were no penalties in the first period.

The Bulls had early control of the 2nd period but unable to push anything past Conor O'Brien. The Brahmas extend their lead to 3-1 converting on a 3-on-1 break that was caused by a bad Bulls' line change. Lone Star's Kyle Patava was hauled down by Brendan Murphy creating a penalty shot. Patava's Penalty Shot sailed over top of the net. Each team had a power play in the period as the pushing and shoving intensified. The Brahmas outshot the Bulls 13-8 in the second.

Johan Lundgren gave the Bulls life in the first 49 seconds of the final stanza when he scored on a second rebound attempt on an off-angle. George Mika earned an assist on the play. Just over two minutes later, the Brahmas restored their two-goal lead by tipping home a play near the side of the net. After that the Brahmas pulled away with three more goals including two on the power play in the final in final seven minutes of the game.

The Lone Star Brahmas outshot the Amarillo Bulls 45-23 including 16-6 in the third period. There were four total power plays with Lone Star scoring on two of its attempts.

The third installment of the Battle of the Cattle Series is set for Saturday at 7:30 pm at NYTEX Sports Center. Fans can tune in with pre-game coverage presented by Wayland Baptist University 20 minutes before the puck is dropped.
