AMARILLO, TX - The beat goes on for the Amarillo Bulls.

A four goal second period powered the Bulls past the Corpus Christi IceRays 8-2 on Saturday at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The win extended the Bulls unbeaten string to 19 games and winning streak to 11 games. It also pushed their first place lead to 15 points.

Logan Jenuwine sparked the Bulls attack with two goals and two assists, while Jake Willets also chipped in two goals. Brenden Datema, Gabriel Seger, Matt Allen, and Brett Abdelnour had the others. Allen's marker was his first in the North American Hockey League. Nick Anderson, Trey Bagwell and Brendan West each set up two goals. Justin Evenson posted the win in goal.

Matt Minerva and Nicholas Seitz tallied for the IceRays in the loss.

The visitors raced out to a 1-0 lead early in the first period thanks to a power play goal off the stick of Matt Minerva. After that it was all Amarillo netting four straight markers. Logan Jenuwine scored off a rebound in front of the net from Gagik Malakyan and Brett Abdelnour. Matt Allen potted his first goal of the season just over three minutes later when he converted a feed from Brendan West and Nick Trela. It was time for the power play to shine and Brenden Datema unloaded a hard slapshot past goaltender John Begley. Nick Anderson and Gabriel Seger picked up helpers on the play. The period drew to a close on a goal from Jake Willets who fired a shot in the top corner from Brenden West and Matt Allen. Each team had 13 shots on goal in the second period.

Special teams took over the second period as each team spent a lot of time on the power play or the penalty kill, leaving to very little game flow. Teams traded goals in the final 1:57 of the stanza. Nicholas Sietz scored in the slot area and then the Bulls quickly erased that when Brett Abdelnour scored from Nick Anderson and Trey Bagwell. The IceRays outshot the Bulls 15-8 in the period.

There was more special teams play in the final 20 minutes and the Bulls used that to their full advantage adding three power play goals. Jake Willets picked up his second of the game from Trey Bagwell and Logan Jenuwine. A short time later, it was Jenuwine with his second from Louis Helsen. Gabriel Seger rounded out the scoring from Brenden Datema and Logan Jenuwine.

The Corpus Christi IceRays outshot the Amarillo Bulls 36-34. There were a combined 14 power plays in the contest with the Bulls netting five of the seven goals.

There is one game left in the weekend series between the Amarillo Bulls and the Corpus Christi IceRays and it takes place at 4 pm tomorrow at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center.
