Anderson, IN (January 14, 2007) - The Indiana Alley Cats won their 7th game in a row by picking up a 129-119 victory over the Pittsburgh Xplosion. They picked up 6 quarter points in the game, only losing the third quarter. The Alley Cats shot 54% from the field and made 37 free throws. Indiana improved to 12-8 on the season.
The Alley Cats took a 38-28 lead after the first quarter of play. Indiana held on to win the second quarter by one and took a 64-53 at the half. Carl Edwards led 4 Indiana players in double figures at the break with 13 points. J.J. Sullinger added 8 rebounds and 13 rebounds. Kevin Pittsnogle led all scorers with 14. The Xplosion came out aggressive in the third quarter. They won the quarter, 30-26 and only trailed by 7 going into the final quarter. The Alley Cats were able to win the fourth and secure the game in the process.
Shaun Fountain was once again Indiana's leading scorer with 30 points. Sullinger was all over the boards, grabbing 18 rebounds to go along with his 12 points. DeAndre Walker added 20 points and a team-high 8 rebounds. DeAndre Walker just missed a double-double (24 points and 8 rebounds), while Erick Barkley tallied 22 points and a team-high 8 assists. The Alley Cats had two other players in double figures. Carl Edwards had 21, while Will Caudle added 18.
Pittsnogle came off the bench to lead the Xplosion with 35 points and 13 rebounds. Isaac Jefferson posted a triple-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. Janiero Spurlock almost recorded the team's third double-double of the game (23 points and 9 rebounds). Pittsburgh had two other players finish in double figures. The Xplosion fell to 2-17 on the season with the loss.
The Alley Cats go on the road for one game. They play the Xplosion in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night. Following that, they will return home to host the Yakama Sun Kings on Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Tip off is set for 7:00 and 3:00, respectively.
