Alley Cats Win Another Nail-Biter Against the Skyrockets

Anderson, IN (January 7, 2007) - The Indiana Alley Cats won their second one point game over the Minot Skyrockets in 8 days. Once again, Minot had the ball with a chance to win it at the buzzer, but once again they failed. Minot was able to inbound the ball at halfcourt following Romuald Augustine's layup, which put the Alley Cats up by one with four seconds to play. Skyrockets forward Willie Mitchell had a shot from beyond the arc to win it, but it bounced off the rim. With the win, Indiana has put together a season-best 4 game-winning streak. They came away with 5.5 quarter points in the victory and improved to above .500 on the season at 9-8. It also marked the third time in a row that they have beaten the Skyrockets.

The two teams battled to a 32-32 tie at the end of the first quarter. Minot was able to win the second quarter, 27-24, and take a 59-56 lead into half. Indiana was able to win the third quarter by 2, and trailed 84-83 going into the fourth. The fourth quarter featured many lead changes, but ultimately the Alley Cats prevailed to win the quarter and take home the victory.

Shaun Fountain was the leading scorer for Indiana for the third straight game. He had 34 points to go along with 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. Erick Barkley finished with 20 points and 5 assists. J.J Sullinger tallied 16 points and a team-high 8 rebounds. Will Caudle and Chris Garnett both finished in double figures as well, with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Willie Mitchell paced Minot with 33 points on 12 of 20 shooting. Jitim Young had a great all-around performance with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 11 assists. Ray Cunningham also recorded a double-double for Minot, finishing with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Minot fell to 8-9 on the season with the loss.

The Alley Cats go on the road for a 2 game set against the Albany Patroons this Tuesday and Thursday. Following that, they will return home to host the Pittsburgh Xplosion, next Sunday at 3:00.
