Alley Cats Struggle at Yakama

Yakama, WA (December 18, 2005) - The Indiana Alley Cats fell behind early and were never able to catch up as the Yakama Sun Kings went on to win 133-104 Sunday night in Yakama. The Alley Cats did not pick up any quarter points in the loss. They never lead in the game. The Sun Kings took a 35-27 after the first quarter thanks to great shooting. Yakama's lead grew to 71-54 at the half. The Alley Cats fall to 3-5 on the season with the loss.

The statistics for the game favored Yakama in most categories. The Sun Kings dominated the boards 52-39. They also shot an amazing 60% from the field, while the Alley Cats shot 42%. It didn't help Indiana that they committed 30 fouls compared to only 18 by Yakama. The Sun Kings also received more production from their bench, as they almost doubled the Alley Cats in bench scoring, 66-34.

Erick Barkley had a great game despite the loss. He led Indiana with 34 points on 5 of 9 shooting from behind the arc. He also had 4 rebounds and 5 assists. The Alley Cats had five other players in double figures. J.J. Sullinger and Shaun Fountain both had 11 points, while Romuald Augustin, Chris Garnett, and Carl Edwards all finished with 10. Augustin led the team in rebounds with 8 and Fountain had a team-high 6 assists.

Ben Ebong had an outstanding game for the Sun Kings. He ended up with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists. Elvin Mims had a team-high 23 points. Ralph Holmes just missed a triple-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists. Chris Alexander finished with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Yakama had two other players score at least 10 points. Galen Young had a team-high 8 assists in the victory.

The Alley Cats come back to Indiana for a two game home stand, beginning Wednesday night at 7:00. They will host the Pittsburgh Xplosion at the Anderson High School Wigwam. On Friday night, they will wrap up the home stand when they host the Albany Patroons at 7:00. Indiana Alley Cats season tickets and single game tickets are currently on sale.
