Alley Cats Pull Away from Xplosion to Pick up Victory

Anderson, IN (March 19, 2007) - The Indiana Alley Cats pulled away from the Pittsburgh Xplosion in the fourth quarter tonight to pick up the victory, 130-117. The Alley Cats won six quarter points in the game. They improved to one game over .500 on the season with three games left.

The Xplosion came out on fire and grabbed a 31-23 lead after the first quarter. Indiana fought back to win the second and led 56-55 at the half. Corey Minnifield led all scorers at the break with 16 points for Pittsburgh, while Carl Edwards and Lester Jones each had 11 for the Alley Cats. Indiana won the third quarter and led by five going into the fourth. In the final frame, the Alley Cats were able to pull away and gain the victory.

Edwards paced Indiana with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. Josh Murray also had a double-double (26 points and 15 rebounds). Jones had his best game of the season, finishing with 15 points in 20 minutes. Chris Garnett tallied 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Chandler Thompson contributed 9 points and 12 rebounds. Shaun Fountain and Will Caudle both added 12 points.

Minnifield led Pittsburgh with a game-high 35 points and 5 rebounds. Rob Griffin added 26 points despite shooting only 9 of 25 from the field. Eric Williams had a nice game with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Dajuan Tate and Shawn Hawkins rounded out the Xplosion players in double figures with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
