Alley Cats Prevail in Overtime

Anderson, IN (March 11, 2007) - The Indiana Alley Cats blew an eight point lead with 44 seconds to play, but recovered in overtime to capture the victory over the Pittsburgh Xplosion, 129-120. They were able to gain 4.5 quarter points in the game.

The Xplosion (8-34) took a 33-24 lead after the first quarter, before Indiana (21-21) came back to win the second quarter 36-24 and take a 60-57 lead into the break. Carl Edwards led the Alley Cats with 17 points at the half, while Rob Griffin tallied 15 for Pittsburgh. The two teams tied the third quarter. Indiana was able to build an eight point lead with 44 seconds left in regulation. After turning the ball over on two straight possessions, Indiana saw its lead vanish. Pittsburgh tied the game on a three pointer by Dajuan Tate with eight seconds left. After a timeout, Indiana turned the ball over yet again. Pittsburgh had a chance to win with two seconds to play, but their lob towards the basket got picked off as time expired. It was all Indiana in overtime as they scored the first ten points and never looked back.

Edwards paced the Alley Cats with a game-high 40 points on 16 of 23 shooting. He also had 9 rebounds. Shaun Fountain added 35 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Chandler Thompson struggled from the field (3 of 11), but ended up with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Will Caudle saw extended minutes today and took advantage of the opportunity. He finished with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Corey Minnifield led seven Pittsburgh players in double figures with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Lewis Monroe had a double-double (17 points, 5 rebounds, and 14 assists). Griffin finished with 21 points, while Tate had 14 points and 8 rebounds. Shawn Hawkins also tallied 14 points.

The Alley Cats will host the Minot Skyrockets next Friday and Sunday. Friday's game is scheduled for 7:00, while Sunday's tip off is set for 3:00.
